MOLLI webcast: gallery of works by Edwina Jaques
The
work of EDWINA JAQUES is woven around three central themes: a personal search
for understanding, the dormant power coiled within each of us and the art of life
driven by the force of nature. These are expressed using lots of different materials
and most of the ideas are based on the human form.
However the ideas are expressed, whether as sculpture or painting, a particular kind of emotion or sense of awe is evoked by the work.
Edwina's art draws on a multi-cultural reservoir rather than a single source; an interpretation of old skills and methods used in a new way.
The use of both natural and manmade materials in conjunction with craft and fine art techniques is a blending of ancient wisdoms and 20th Century technology.
Having gained a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Michigan, Edwina was a recipient of a grant enabling her to study the Ancient Celtic Culture in the U.K. where she made Devon her home. Since then, Edwina has exhibited throughout Britain and her work is represented in collections Worldwide.
Edwina lives in Devon, in a very old thatched cottage with a raven named Mauvran, an iguana named Cloe, Calisto the cat, three dogs, Koshares, Touli and Taz, and her husband Michael.
