Nick Richards and his art appreciation group, based in Paignton, visited the Museum for a private viewing of a few paintings from the collection. A quirk of programming means that for over half of the project none of the Fine Art collection was on public display. This has allowed for individual works to be taken from storage to be used with small groups in more intimate spaces than the Museum's art gallery. Mr. Richard's group were able to look closely at, and talk informally about, the following artworks -
William Frith's 'The Fair Toxopholites', William Etty's 'Andromeda, Perseus coming to her rescue' and Frank Holl's 'The Song of the Shirt' as well as paintings that happened to be hanging in the Curator's office at the time of the visit. These include works by Patrick Heron, John Virtue and John White Abbott.
