Spending
a whole day in Exeter 50+ students from Park Community College,
Barnstaple - led by teachers, Greg Hodgson and Katie Phillips
- made a second visit to the Museum as part of the project. While
a few had also taken part in the school's first visit in November
'99 for most it was their first involvement in Realise. The students
again met the Curator of Fine Art and the Project Co-ordinator
who led a workshop in the Art Gallery based on the paintings and
drawings in the Walter Daw
Choice exhibition. This was curated by primary school children
and teachers from another of the 'project partners', Walter
Daw First School, Exeter.
They
were also able to spend a sustained period drawing and looking
in the World Cultures galleries
where the students met local artist Patrick Jones for a talk
on his paintings and practice as an artist. Later in the day
the school took the chance to visit other galleries in the city.
