Visit to the Museum by Walter Daw First School
Phil Mawdsley and the pupils from Walter DawOn the 4th of October 60 children and 10 adults from Walter Daw First School visited the Museum for a workshop in the Art Gallery based on the portraits exhibition Face to Face with the Past. Split into two groups the children collected information which would help them when making self portraits back at school. Everyone was asked to pay particular attention to the variety of the work in the exhibition - big and small, detailed and 'smudgy', male and female, just heads or whole bodies, people on their own or with their families (or animals!), painted or printed, photograph or drawing.
Pupils from Walter Daw at the Museum This was the first major visit to the Museum as part of the REALISE Project and everyone was anxious that it should go well. It was generally agreed that the day was a great success as you can see from the photo's.

You can see some of the results of the workshop. Unfortunately we don't have space here to show all the drawings made on the day but as our REALISE Project develops we hope to be able to show you images made by all the children at Walter Daw School.
